This alloy is an austenitic, nitrogen strengthened stainless steel combining corrosion resistance comparable with 316 stainless with greater strength. It is readily fabricated and remains non-magnetic even after heavy forming operations. In many areas, it outperforms types 316 and 317 with almost double the yield strength. It can be found in applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance such as fasteners, boat shafting, marine hardware, pumps and valves.
